Balázs Gődény wins Build Challenge by Thomson Reuters

Recently Balázs Gődény, Principal Engineer of Meltwater’s Natural Language Processing team in Budapest, won the Build Challenge, which is the 2nd phase of the Thomson Reuters Innovation Challenge. Congratulations Balázs!!!

One quality of great engineers is that they often truly enjoy what they do. This means that they tend to have a keen interest in solving hard problems, no matter if that is at or outside of their day job. Due to this, some engineers are very engaged in open source contributions, others take part in hackathons, development challenges, and similar competitions.

Balázs’ submission to the Thomson Reuters Innovation Challenge is a tool called Web of Science Browser. The Web of Science is the publication database of Thomson Reuters and the browser “streamlines the scientific discovery process by enhancing the navigability of content within Web of Knowledge”, as the press release by Thomson Reuters rightfully puts it.

For even more details about the Web of Science Browser, you may want to read a longer interview with Balázs on ScienceWatch.com.

So congratulations again to Balázs for winning this challenge! We are all very proud of your achievement! Truly in the spirit of “Under the hood, out of the box” and an inspiration for all engineers at Meltwater.
